Covia is looking for a dynamic Production Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Oregon, IL location.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Work in a safe manner and abide by all Covia and MSHA safety rules, regulations and best practices.
  • Be physically capable of performing job duties of a General laborer, which include but are not limited to:
    • Be capable of walking on uneven ground and up and down hills.
    • Be capable of climbing ladders and working at height.
    • Be capable of wearing a respirator, safety harness, safety glasses, hard hat and other Personnel Protective Equipment.
    • Be capable of working in year-round outdoor conditions which include hot, cold and wet weather.
    • Be capable of working on all production shifts, which include, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts. This is a union environment and junior employees are assigned to the least desirable position on the least desirable shift.
    • Be capable of push, pull, lift and carry 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
    • Be capable of shoveling on a continuous basis.
    • Be capable of being trained to operate stationary and mobile equipment in a harsh quarry environment.
  • Knowledge of operating mobile equipment or maintenance practices is desirable.
  • Be capable of reading and understanding safety warnings, safety procedures and written Job Instructions.
  • Be capable of completing other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of experience required.
