The Distribution Project Manager serves as a dynamic change agent and aggressively leads business improvement or new distribution center projects. This role provides sustained improvement to critical distribution center and transactional processes to help management achieve strategic goals and impact financial results. This role is responsible for challenging conventional thinking and assembling multiple cross-functional teams to support tactical efforts, serving as both a team leader and coach.

Janesville is the home base of this position but visiting other Generac facilities is an expectation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive distribution and quality deliverables by demonstrating leadership in the distribution, IT and quality departments as well as adhere to data driven quality principles.
  • Ensure project elements are tracked and fulfilled by the various stakeholders.
  • Work with quality to implement activities on planning processes to assist program managers with delivering key milestones in the program.
  • Clearly understand and document customers' definition and expectation of quality and cascade to operations and program team members.
  • Ensure understanding, commitment and application among all strategic decision makers for the successful application of best practice project management, problem solving, and Lean implementation tools and methodologies. Ensure consistency with corporate vision, direction, policies and guidelines.
  • Mentor and guide project team members to deliver on the project/program requirements.
  • Plan and lead refresher activities and forums for continual learning.
  • Implement strategic and tactical distribution center improvements in new buildings, racking, automation and systems
  • Serve as a conduit for the flow of information, the sharing of best practices and external benchmarks.
  • Coordinate communication activities that highlight and publicize plans, goals, results and other-change management communications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Industrial Technology or equivalent experience in the DC Operations Project Management function within a similar working environment
  • 5 years of progressive DC Operations management experience in similar work environment.

Preferred Job Requirements:
  • PMP or other project management certification


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams and individuals cross-functionally
  • Proven customer service orientation
  • Proven experience in delivering quality improvements/ problem solving
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean enterprise
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis skills
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP
  • Previous experience implementing Warehouse Management Software Systems such as SAP, Blue Yonder or Manhattan
  • New facility start-up experience; including existing facility optimization and automation implementation
  • Extensive experience with storage racking, storage media of various types and automation


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
